A petai a day keeps the doctor away. Today, I serve our family's favourite spicy petai prawns, really spicy with red chillies padi. The usual which everyone knows how to cook and like to eat dish.
Just cut open the petais into half (to check worms) and soak them in salt water for crunchiness. Peel prawns, quick wash them with salt. Saute some minced garlic, shallots, ginger, tumeric roots, lemon grass, red chillies and red chillies padi till fragrant. Add in a little sugar and belachan. Add in prawns and kaffir lime leaves and mix them well. Stir and cook for a while, add in petai, mix well and add in a little water. Let is simmer for a while. Pour in 1 cup of fresh milk and let it cook for another 3 minutes.
It's ready and lovely yet delicious with white rice. I ensure that I have ready enough drinks on my dining table. Otherwise, my family members will be jumping here and there for drinks. So, eat or not to eat!.
