Ajisen Ramen @ 1 Utama Old Wing, PJ

Chinese New Year falls on 7th Feb 2008 and shoppers are all running wild with the sales slash from 10-70% discount. They are worth buying especially those branded office wears and whatever bags. Go Padini or Parkson as they have the best bargain and quality.

This is a good fortune performance at 1 Utama Shopping Complex. Looks beautiful and very prosperous eventhough this photo is taken from 3rd floor.

And if I/we shop, I/we tend to be hungry with our money spent and stomach calling for food. So, we will opt for budget food just to satisfy our hunger. Ajisen Ramen, One Utama printed on bill is Tuna Special Roll at RM9.00. A real budget Japanese food.

Mango Sundae Kagigor atRM6.80 almost the price of KTZ at SS2. This is to satisfy my meal-mate, a mango lover. Nice to slowly chop the shaved ice and enjoy the mango in a scoop.

Photobucket
Beef Teriyaki set at RM10.80, a set that is as nice as you can enjoy with rice, soup, beef, salad and meat balls. Good idea for Ajisen's owner to have this concept. Remember my Pasta Zanmai post earlier on? They are targetting on young-money-spending group of at least RM15.00 per head with Ocha Tea at RM1.50 free flow.

My meal-mate has patrronised this eatery several times and she recommended me this place. See what she ordered. Tomyam Ramen at RM15.80 with big prawns, squid, fish meat and lots of button mushrooms. No wonder, of all ramen she confidently ordered Tomyam, Malaysian made Japanese food. She happily finished them without complaining. Must be tasty then! Clever business people like Ajisen.

Big Apple Doughnut & Coffee @ NiuxeZui Ara Damansara, PJ

Again, Niuxezui at Ara Damansara, PJ. The customer awareness promotion is really storming PJ and KL through Radio, Press and the most powerful ad is 'word of mouth'. Do you know that the road leading to this place is really jammed? And now, the Apple Doughnut is standing tall there. Starbucks is coming up soon. So more competitors and more eatery. Good and nice place to walk in the evening.

Photobucket

Enjoy them with a cup of piping hot coffee. 6's at RM9.50. I find them nice and likeable even by senior citizens. I mean Akong (grandpa) and Amah (grandma), Apek(old man and A emm (old auntie).

Go, and test yourself, eat in or take away.

Niuzexui at PJU1, Ara Damansara, PJ

Photobucket

Wow, NiuZeXui is so popular since it's opening on January 1, 2008. I am staying somewhere around that location and did not realized it until a friend who stayed far far away asked me about this place. I once knew there was a development from NZX.

Out of our curiousity ,we visited the place at night and it's really beautiful with the blue and pink cherry blossom lighted plants. They really make the place grand and something new to talk about. A garden of auspicious lime trees, bamboo plants and pineapple flowers were available for sale there.

Most shoplots were not open yet. Only kiosks and shops selling all kinds of fashion and apparels, mobiles, only 2 eateries and many others are now open for business. Outside NZX, there are traders selling CNY decorations and goodies. The beautiful nursery of greens are too tempted to look at eventhough you are not ready to buy one yet. Go now, new place and new ambience.

KarFeiTian is the sole eatery there besides a doghnut shop. See, we go there for food and this is what I had at RM7.90. The rest of our foods were not pictured like Yongchow Fried Rice and Fish and Chips. All at RM38.00 including crysanthenum tea. Good taste or not, the owner will know. They are laughing to the Bank everyday until more operators join in the food fun at NiuZeXui.

Enjoy some of my pictures taken and you can have an idea all it looks like. Actually there are more to see.

Molly’s Place @ Damansara Kim, Penang Nyonya Fare

________________________________________________

Home-cooked touch to Penang Nyonya Fare

FOODIES thrive on discovering good eateries cleverly tucked away in inconspicuous places or thereabouts.

Molly’s Place in Damansara Kim is a hop and a skip from Taman Tun Dr Ismail, where people seem to per-ceive all the culinary action is. But, for a quiet rendezvous and food cooked from the heart, Molly’s Place will do delightfully.

The restaurant may be only several months old but it has a faithful following. Aside from her culinary prowess, chef and owner Molly Khoo seems an old hand at spreading her conviviality.

Brought up in a Penang Nyonya family, Khoo learnt to brandish a ladle and handle a wok from young. After raising her children, she decided to grab the opportunity to run her own eatery, with help from family members.
Unpretentious: The outlet is simple but inviting, and is a delightful place for a rendezvous.
It is no easy task to prepare six types of porridge daily for dessert alone but Khoo takes it in her stride. Bubbling pots near the counter hold Bubur Cha Cha, Durian Bubur Cha Cha, Bubur Pulut Hitam, Red Bean Porridge, Barley Fu Chok Porridge and Honeydew with Sago Porridge.

One whiff of any of them is enough to make you think of des-sert.
Khoo prides herself on blending her own pastes and making marinades from scratch because discerning eaters can tell the difference.
“I blend my own turmeric for the Otak-otak (steamed fish slices in coconut) but it is common practice to use curry powder as an alternative nowadays. The taste is totally different, though,” she said when the sa-voury delights, fashioned like cupcakes, were brought out. To say that the Otak-otak is spicy is putting it mildly.

Homemaker-turned-restaurateur: Khoo prepares home-cooked Penang Nyonya fare at Molly's Place.
She also does not see the point in compromising where Perut Ikan – fish stomach cooked in potent assam curry – is concerned. For authenticity, the fish has to be finely cut so that it completely absorbs the tangy flavour.

The perennial favourite, Jiu Hu Char, receives similar treatment where finely shredded yam bean and carrot are tossed with fried cuttlefish for a true-blue Penang Nyo-nya salad.
A cherished recipe for a secret blend of herbs and spices is used for the Chicken Pong Tay. Because the meat is cooked for at least 45 minutes, the chunks also attain a rich colour.
Diners are known for savouring the typical Penang Nyonya meal of just Jiu Hu Char, Chicken Pong Tay and a bowl of rice. At Molly’s Place, we recommend enjoying this simple fare with tiny cups of steaming lemongrass tea.
And, when the hankering for hot food sets in, you should throw caution to the winds and go with the Kari Kapitan, Penang Assam Fish and Assam Laksa.
After all, there are sumptuous desserts to douse the fire on your tongue later. Nyonya Kuih and Yam Cake are made daily for eat-in and takeaway.
All the dishes at Molly’s Place come with an unmistakable home-cooked touch, courtesy of Khoo’s magic fingers. For an initiation, try the ongoing promotion on set meals for two or three diners and go armed with a hearty appetite.

Pan Mee Soup Special (L) costs RM4.80. It is served with more noodles, yee ping and fish balls. The soup tasted good and some customers even ordered more soup. A normal portion costs RM4.20 which they described it as Traditional Pan Mee.

Deep Fried Yee Ping costs RM2.00. We ordered this just for bites as it tasted crispy and everyone loves it.

SS2 Homi Curry Puffs

Take-Away Food
Do you like curry puffs? We can get to taste curry puffs easily here. Even some small housewives stall sell tasty and lovely curry puffs.

But this is different. Homi Curry Puffs is famous in SS2, Petaling Jaya, proudly featured in 8TV's Ho Ciak food programme. Did you see the layered puff skin? Real crunchy and nice. Priced at RM1.20 per piece, I 'tapau' 10 pieces just- for- eat.

Who cannot recognise this 2 big brothers? They have been in this business for many years, I think almost 20 years. They are at Restoran Hock Seng Two, a corner coffee shop at SS2 just behind Restoran Sun Hin Loong. Their business seems to be good and and I think.... they are laughing to the nearby banks daily.

Foong Mei Dim Sum

Dim Sum at Foong Mei SS2 is great. This morning due to Merdeka celebrations the road along LDP is not busy. Foong Mei Dim Sum Centre is not that packed compared to other PH or weekends. This restaurant serving Dim Sum has been operating for many years and as popular as at todate.

I noticed that they are now practising order-card-system (you order they tick at the card) like those 4 stars restaurants. This system is better as most of the bosses will mumber and came up with a price. Sometimes it can give you a shock. Just imagine if you are naughty and just get the 'lady boss' to repeat the calculations, she will be jammed-count. What a joke!.

Nice for breakfast. I have porridge and fried carrot cakes too (not in pic). Total plus a pot of tea is RM23.20, reasonably charged with reference to the order-card-system.

PJ BEST ROASTED DUCK

Yeah.. Yeah.. remember I was mentioning Restoran Yook Tho Yin (PJ)'s roasted duck which I have rated as No 1 at PJ, reference my dish' Braised Kay Choy with Roasted Duck". Today, I am just hungry and feel like filling up my hungry stomach (skip lunch) with roasted duck. Aha!
this is the one, we rushed to 'tapau' 1 bird of freshly roasted duck with 'char siew' and 'tai cheong'. Real yummy, trust me... and everyone is so fast in setting up the dining table and unpacking .

Hmmm... it's smell so great from here... really bagus and juicy at only RM38.00 per duck.

And.... this is the exterior of the said Restaurant at the busy area of
Damansara Utama, next to Satay A1 shop
The interior at about 6.45pm for the early birds like us.

This is the lady-boss who has been managing her business attentively.
See.. the juice from the duck drip..dripppp to a container specially handled by
the hardworking future boss (owner's son) after Uni hours.

Really can't resist the blocks of roasted pork, smiling at me.
Too bad, we did not order today! Try this... tapau home and eat with
your Wan Tan Noodles.. real crunchy and tasty.

More... up there parading saying hello to me...

The roasted duck will be finished within a little while....
so catch them fast!
Do not be fickle minded..
